Global Investment In Viable Entrepreneurship (GIIVE)

Global Investment In Viable Entrepreneurship (GIIVE) is a student organization whose mandate is to advocate microfinance as a powerful tool in the global fight against poverty. We strongly believe in the solution offered by microfinance, which is to stimulate job-creation in developing countries from the bottom-up by promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability. However, we also encourage debate to analyze microfinance from a critical perspective, and to assess its strengths and weaknesses.

Our goal is to encourage the local community to play a more active role in the fight against poverty by funding financial services and other sustainable projects that will improve the quality of life of those living in the Global South. Therefore, GIIVE plans to raise awareness about microfinance among the student population, to act as a forum for discussion on developmental politics, and to host events that will allow participants to gain a hands-on understanding of microfinance.

We are currently recruiting dedicated new members and executives. If you are interested in getting involved, please email us at giive@utoronto.ca
